Description

In 2008, when I and my then boyfriend were stranded in St. Louis after various unfortunate misadventures and having a rough time, we listened to a lot of Ludo - in particular "The Broken Bride." It really lifted our spirits with its quirkiness, and became something of an "us" rock opera.

Later, sometime between the point we got engaged and the point when we decided to elope, I wanted to illustrate the narrative central to the album: a man so dedicated to his dead wife that he made a time machine to attempt her resurrection, only to overshoot and get attacked by pterodactyls in a prehistoric wasteland. Using our impending marriage as an excuse for some hubristic self-insertion, I made this piece featuring my soon-to-be-husband as the protagonist of the story.

Note: I did this nearly a year ago on my duct-taped together archaic desktop that might have been cool in 1999 - and without having any real idea how to use graphics editors or Flash. The majority of the thing was illustrated via MS Paint and it has no actual animation as such, but I nevertheless feel it does a good job (however clumsily) of conveying the vision I had for it. Sorry its small size and loader-less-ness - I hope to eventually rework it when I finish the sequel someday. ( I sadly don't have any of my working copies after the death of the aforementioned computer... -just my 100+ .bmps- so reconfiguring things to look cleaner, preload and suck less will take a bit of doing)
